True Charity Network

The True Charity Network

Charity Reimagined launched in 2018 and the work of Dr. Robert Lupton played a key role in our formation. At that time, we knew changing national, hand-out programs like welfare and SNAP was impossible, but at a grassroots level, we were confident change could happen.

Today, our biggest partner in rethinking how we are helping the poor is True Charity, a like-minded organization based in Joplin, Missouri, and founded by James Whitford in 2018. We discovered True Charity in 2019. Its mission, like our mission, is to change charity from "hand outs" to "hand ups," but its scope IS on a national level.

Charity Reimagined has been a member of the True Charity Network since May 2020. Membership affords access to a variety of resources including training and events - all of which we CANNOT recommend highly enough.

Charity Reimagined has participated in the annual True Charity Summit since 2022 in Springfield, MO.

“True Charity provides relevant and easy to understand resources for training staff and volunteers. We need to all be playing in the same sandbox, speaking the same language, if we are going to wrap critically needed resources and support around our neighbors who want to get out and stay out of poverty. It would have taken me a couple years to produce the training resources provided by True Charity.”
